Bands/Guitars and University!

Hey sorry for not blogging in such a long time, but I have big news lots of things have happen since the last post. As you can see below is my Fender Mustang guitar that I said in the last post I would be purchasing and it was not a bad decision. I love the guitar it fits me very well and I love playing it I am starting to get a lot better at playing now and expect to see a new band I am forming in early 2014. We are working on songs now and already have wrote quite a few ready we are just perfecting them and getting as much practise as possible. On another big note I have started University now and I am studying Film and Media at The Manchester Metropolitan University. I am enjoying the course a lot and have got straight into it just handed in my first big essay and I enjoyed writing it with a help from my lovely girlfriend Catherine also. My next project is called Madchester/Pills/Thrills and belly aches and is all about Manchester the big music scene the iconic building work and the culture that surrounds it. I will post updates on how we are doing with it, we went out today and filmed all famous parts of Manchester but I don't want to give too much away so I will keep you posted

Thanks, Rob

The 1975

Sorry about not posting in a while, but since I did a post about a band last time I thought I would continue on that theme as I have much to tell. The 1975 are a band from Manchester again! I am not picking bands from my hometown on purpose by the way. Anyway I have got into them a lot recently and they have just started to make it big appearing on BBC radio 1 a lot and playing all kinds of festivals in the U.K and all over. There bringing an album out on the 9th of September and I think it is going to be a very good first album for them.

There biggest hit is chocolate which my girlfriend Catherine is not a big fan of but I think its a great song and is very different. I am also going to see them live in September with Cat so I hope she enjoys the gig and hopefully the band will grow on her as she does not mind the other songs. I am much looking forward to this gig not only because its The 1975 but I think when you have never seen a band live before its a lot more special than if you have seen them 4 times or so. Lets hope it turns out well, for any of you interested it is at the Ritz in Manchester but they have many other live dates and are going all across the U.K, America and the rest of Europe.

Matt Healy and the Fender mustang

Matt Healy is the lead singer in the band, I am starting to learn to play myself and buying the same guitar as him as I love the colours on the guitar and I have heard its also good for someone who is starting out to play. The guitar is the Fender Mustang and is a vintage version of it, the picture below is it up close. I have been working on my own songs which hopefully I can show you sometime in the near future.

All these pictures on this post are not mine and I don't own the rights to them. Anyway I hope you check them out and love them as much as me I will leave a link to there website below.

Beady Eye Signing

So I am a very big fan of Beady Eye which I am sure you have all heared of recently as they have brought out a new album called BE. I was lucky enough to meet them in the flesh as they were doing a signing in HMV Manchester for there brand new album. I got to meet Gem, Andy, Chris and of course Liam. I shook all of there hands and they signed my C.D and booklet, my mate Harry is in a band which my next post will be about but he had his band business card with him and thought it might be funny to give them all one to take a look at. They all looked at it and all seemed very intrested and Liam asked what type of genre it was.

All of them seemed happy that someone would have the guts to do something like that, not sure if they ever checked it out or not but it must of been a amazing moment for Harry. I am currently working on some songs with a few of my friends and will be buying myself an acoustic guitar to get learning as we are all hoping of putting a band together if we think people might like us fingers crossed.

But I never thought I would be meeting more or less the whole of Oasis as they are best known so it was a day I shall never forget and hopefully I shall get to see Beady Eye next year at one of there gigs. But take a look at the pictures of the signing and the things I got signed down below I shall have another post coming soon!

Thanks, Rob

SDMC Productions (Work Experience)

So all of last week I got given some work experience from my college to SDMC Productions a media company in the centre of Manchester. At first I was a bit nervous and did not know what to expect for the week and what they wanted me to do. They through me into the deep end and put me straight into a research job for the company, which entails finding contacts for upcoming documentary’s or T.V shows they may be working on to get more people involved in there project. I enjoyed this job and felt a part of the team right away.

They were all very nice and by Wednesday I was very comfortable around the people working there and begin to know most of everyone’s names. I managed to get them a big name contact for the documentary on Legal Highs which they are in the process of making at the moment.

As the week came to a close I made some friends and enjoyed the experience as a whole, I think it has helped my confidence in certain situations like answering the phone and speaking to new people. Some days I got to go out filming around Manchester and practising with all their equipment filming cutaways which will be in any future projects they might make. I have kept in contact with the company and would not mind working on a project or doing more work experience for them in the future.

If you are interested in Media and looking for a career in it I would suggest checking there stuff out: http://www.sdmcproductions.com/

Studio Production

Hey guys I just wanted to give you a quick update I am currently doing a studio production in media and I have the role of vision mixer. Which can be tricky due to the amount of pressure that's on your shoulders but I find it very interesting. We all get a role in doing each job which are floor manager, director, 3 camera operators and finally production manager.

I am enjoying this assignment because we use our big lecture hall to film in with a full audience watching, this really gives you an insight to what it would be like working in a real T.V set in a real life air situation. We have completed the production now so I will put up a video of the Super Awesome Challenge Show as soon as I can, it is only a first draft so there is a lot of things that still needs improving.

Thanks, Rob
